hotel and restaurant reviewing

its been a long time since i updated ... but i will now be updating more frequently:-)
since my hubby and I travel around the country due to his work we get to spend in different hotels around the country and although i am not a proffesional i feel i can advise about the hotel industry here.
There are no five star restaurants in Malawi ( although the chinese government plans on building one in lilongwe in the next two years) the best hotels are the Sunbird chain of hotels.
In Blantyre there is the Sunbird Mount soche where we stayed for a week so i can give an honest review. The food was nothing to write home about but the staff were always smiling and always willing to help. Most of the times if one orders a meal it takes minimum half an hour for the food to be ready. Depending on what one orders some food is well cooked and well presented but if one orders steaks that are medium you will always get a well done steak and when you question there will be alot of apologies:-). As for breakfast i remember the first time my hubby and i went for breakfast we were shocked to see some remaining food from the evening before eg. potatoes, chicken and fish. that was in 2008 maybe things have now changed.
overall i was not very impressed by the hotel.
to give the hotel some credit they serve nice mzuzu coffee( localaly grown coffee) with cakes.
every person has their own experince . The only was as a tourist if one visits malawi is to try the hotel next time you are in blantyre and make ones own conclusion.
